LETTER:ATF rules

Comments on “Not Real News: A look at what didn’t happen this week” (PDN, March 2) the Associated Press appears to be attempting to cover for being so biased.

Disputing social media’s claim that ATF rules have been updated allowing illegal aliens to purchase firearms. The AP says that, according to an ATF spokesperson, federal law prohibits illegal aliens from purchasing or possessing firearms.

Then the spokesperson says, ”The ATF does not have the power to change federal law, only implement it.” Which appears to me to be untrue.

The ATF’s zeal to write and enforce its own laws began in earnest under the Biden-Harris administration, and subsequently has been weaponized against lawful and responsible firearm owners by trying every backdoor maneuver to further their narrative for citizen disarmament.

By deifying the Administrative Procedures Act the ATF has overreached its administrative authority and changed the interpretation of some established laws and rules.

The ATF’s campaign to shut down FFL dealers has increased 500 percent just for small clerical errors that’ve always been overlooked previously.

They’re calling bumpstocks illegal machine guns from the earlier lawful interpretation.

They’ve reclassified legal armbraces on handguns now to make them illegal short barreled rifles.

They’ve changed the definition of FFLs to include private citizens selling firearms, historically legal, that now requires an FFL.

These have made felons out of millions of law-abiding gun owners overnight.

Then sadly, it seems to me, that Biden’s border policy has resulted in the death of Laken Hope Riley by an illegal alien.
