LETTER: Wennstrom for City Council

This job, city council member, requires key skills of understanding existing laws and policies, listening to all residents and their needs and preferences.

It also requires strong analysis skills, a willingness to do a lot of homework studying and researching issues before the council.

And central to these tasks is the ability to communicate clearly to the community, both individually with residents and through broad public messages to the community.

And council members must work collaboratively with their fellow council members, city administrators, and other public and private organizations.

Libby Wennstromhas these qualities and skills.

She is prepared to hit the ground running as a strong, engaged council member.

For those who listened to the three candidates running for position 5 at the LWV candidate forum on July 1, Libby’s strong skills and understanding of key issues were clearly demonstrated.

Practical problem solving is one of Libby’s key strengths, demonstrated in her prior positions of community leadership.

She also understands there are few silver bullet solutions or simple solutions to our key problems like decent, affordable housing for all, or maintaining good roads, or protecting our enviable natural environment or preserving a balance of types of economic activities that maintain both our livability as a community and our financial foundation as a city.

I strongly urge you to vote for Libby Wennstrom for position 5 on the city council on the primary ballot you will receive in about two weeks.
