LETTER: Vote Hillary Clinton for a strong female president

She’s right on her proposed measures for education, equal pay and immigration reform.

Harriet Tubman made raids into Maryland in the 1850s, leading more than 300 slaves to freedom.

Today, she is revered as a freedom fighter who could not be defeated even when her owner beat her almost to death.

Yet to slave owners, Tubman was an armed terrorist, a thief who stole their most precious property: slaves.

They wanted Tubman “dead or alive.”

Remember this long history of the oppression of women.

Donald Trump says Hillary Clinton should be in jail for her carelessness with her cellphone and emails.

One of Trump’s supporters, New Hampshire state Rep. Al Baldasaro, said Clinton should be executed by firing squad.

Why such hatred?

Hillary Clinton is a strong woman poised to become our first female president.

About 18 years ago, she warned that democracy in America is menaced by a “vast right-wing conspiracy.”

She is right.

She supports equal pay for women.

She will appoint Supreme Court justices who uphold women’s equality and equal marriage rights.

She endorses doubling the federal minimum wage.

She supports immigration reform.

She will defend and expand Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare and programs that benefit the poor.

She will defend voting rights.

She will uphold agreements such as President Barack Obama’s deal with China to curb global warming and his agreement to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Trump opposes every one of these measures.

Trump treats women like slaves.

He thinks workers’ wages are “too high.”

When you get your mail ballot, vote for Hillary Clinton.

Vote hope, not fear.
