I encourage all citizens of Clallam and Jefferson counties to write or email Rep. Derek Kilmer supporting his co-sponsorship of House Resolution 700 to censure President Donald Trump for ” … derogatory comments regarding Haitians” and people from African nations (https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-resolution/700).
Censure is a serious matter for Congress, for only one president has been censured since the start of our nation.
President Andrew Jackson was censured, but the censure was removed several years later by a forgiving Congress.
President Trump has made many grossly derogatory comments, tweets, etc. since he began running for president, and continues to this day.
It is my opinion he is the most dismally inept president this country has suffered.
House Resolution 700 will hopefully be only the start to a downhill path that will lead to his removal from office.
I have lived through 13 U.S. presidents and each of them had different mixes of strengths and weaknesses.
However, I maintain that President Trump is so morally dysfunctional he lacks all public or official graces.
He is a gaping wound on this country’s body politic.
