LETTER: Restore beach access

I am writing this letter to ask assistance from locals on the West End of Clallam County.

On a recent visit to Clallam Bay, I stopped at the rest stop at the county park.

I have always found the building and the area in good condition. However, the bridge from the park over the river has not been repaired since it washed away at least three years ago at the beach access.

I am a longtime resident of the West End and age has its limitations.

The steep banks and driftwood washed up on area beaches stop us older folks from walking to the beach.

That bridge was the answer and served me very well many times.

I am sure there are many visitors heading farther west that have used the park many times as evidenced by the license plates I have seen in the parking lot.

There is much to see at Clallam Bay and Sekiu. The beaches are unique and were easily accessible via the bridge.

Let’s contact our Clallam County Commissioners and Park Board to see what can be done to correct this problem and restore access to the beaches.
