LETTER: Port Townsend traffic just one long line of cars entering, exiting

Port Townsend is a small Victorian town at the end of the road.

When you drive into town, the road ends at the end of Water Street.

State Highway 20 turns right onto the Keystone ferry, which sails to Whidbey Island before you enter downtown, yet the traffic entering Port Townsend on Highway 20 is continuous all day, way beyond the ferries’ capacity.

As far as the eye can see, a line of cars is entering Port Townsend.

Another continuous line of cars is exiting Port Townsend at the same time.

What is going on?

In my mind, I see a continuous line of cars driving down Water Street, turning around and leaving town.

Does anyone have a better answer to this?

Rex Rice,

Port Townsend
