I recently attended a Port Angeles Lefties baseball game and was pleased to see so many community members in attendance, rooting for their local sports team.
I was shocked, however, to see the amount of waste being thrown out with so few recycling bins available to people.
In one game, there might be 500-1,000 plastic cups used for alcohol and other beverages (they are apparently unable to refill one’s cup), and many aluminum cans for sodas.
All of these things could easily be recycled.
I know it isn’t the only event in town that lacks recycling, and that is also a sad fact.
It is time Port Angeles advance to the present.
People coming in from out of town might be shocked to learn we aren’t recycling.
If we want to grow as a tourist mecca and a green city, we need to change.
