LETTER: PDN’s fishing columnist offers criticism but no constructive ideas

Another Wednesday and yet another angry, dyspeptic and semi-paranoid column from Pat Neal [“Lack Of Faith In Hoh River Trust,” PDN, May 31].

Week after week, Neal bashes every person and entity working to manage and restore fisheries.

He regularly denounces what he calls “the salmon restoration industry” (you’d think a representative of the salmon-killing industry would be more supportive).

In his column, he dismisses the Hoh River Trust as “utopian dreamers, grant-sucking bureaucrats and pie-in-the-sky environmental scammers.”

His every column is destructive.

What I never, ever hear from Neal is a positive program.

Everybody’s doing it wrong, but if Neal has a better approach, he’s not sharing it with Peninsula Daily News readers.

Apparently, the Peninsula Daily News thinks Neal is some sort of authentic voice of the Peninsula.

Personally, I think there are a lot of other, more constructive, forward-looking voices that could fill the space the Peninsula Daily News regularly grants to this one angry man.
