LETTER: Opposes gun laws

I want to express my deepest sympathies to the victims and families of the tragic murders that occurred recently in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, Calif.

David Harsanyi’s article “Get ready for cynical, useless, gun-control push” on Tuesday, Jan. 31, explains the ineffectiveness of Gov. Newsom’s anti-gun California laws as well as this country’s.

While horrific and tragic, mass shootings make up only a fraction of a percentage, 0.3 percent, of gun deaths in the country.

To add to Hasanyi’s commentary, the sheriff of Los Angeles County, Robert Luna, described the handgun recovered after the Monterey Park murders as “a magazine-fed semiautomatic assault pistol with an extended large-capacity magazine attached to it, was probably not legal in California.”

The sheriff shockingly appears unfamiliar with all the anti-gun laws in the state, but he did come up with a novel new designation for the biased lame-stream media to use in their narratives about their implied dangers of firearms.

Our illustrious Gov. Inslee seems to have goggle eyes for Gov. Newsom and is following suit with idiotic new anti-gun laws.

Inslee is backing our legislators in introducing several unconstitutional anti-2nd Amendment bills: SB 5078, targeting firearm manufacturers; SB 5211, new firearm purchase requirements; SB 5193 and SB 5265, limiting the sale of “assault weapons” and “high-capacity magazines.”

In the radical Left’s Utopian bubble, they think these bills should keep us all safe from criminal psychopaths who could care less about these laws.
