LETTER: I agree reasonable balance is lost in propaganda of media’s output

I agree with the writer of a May 16 letter [“Mainstream media”] that our news media has been compromised by bias and false propaganda.

I would like to add to this.

This same tactic was used by the communist governments of Russia, China, Cuba and others, not to mention Germany before World War II.

It is not only in our media coverage but has infected our education system.

I’m referring to all the violent protests and shout-downs to stop free speech in college campuses around the country and to those who don’t want to participate in a civil debate or might feel a little offended by someone’s point of view.

Maybe they feel that way because they aren’t informed enough, which happens when only one point is constantly pushed, not allowing the other point to be heard.

Maybe they are afraid of losing the debate or at least acknowledging the other point might have validity.

If we continue to support this nonsense and not make our media and educational system accountable, we will never be a united country, and worse yet will be a fallen country.

Accountability will come in one form or another.
