LETTER: Doesn’t favor divider at Morse Creek curve

As a resident of Four Seasons Park and a daily driver of the highway around the Morse Creek curve on U.S. Highway 101, I am opposed to the proposed divider separating the eastbound and westbound lanes.

A divider could present vision difficulty for those making a left hand turn from Four Seasons Park.

It could also take out more highway for the proposed divider without preventing those going too fast from being ejected into the opposite lane.

There could be enough room for the proposed divider east of the bridge, but not west of the bridge.

I would be in favor of a cable divider, similar to the one on state Highway 3, in the center median.

It would not take as much room or hamper vision the way an earth berm or Jersey barrier would.

Had there been a divider in place prior to the tragic fatal motorcycle accident I am afraid the outcome would have been the same.

I am in favor of reducing the speed limit to 40 mph through the curve and continued stringent enforcement by the State Patrol.
