Bravo and many thanks to the city of Port Angeles for its innovative retrofit of the city hall parking lot.
Not only does it reduce stormwater runoff and protect Peabody Creek, it is beautiful.
That’s not how I’d usually describe a parking area, but the new lot incorporates trees and shrubs, rain gardens and even educational signs that explain how the design improves our city’s environment.
The new parking lot provides immediate benefits, long-term protection for Peabody Creek and sets an example for how development can be accomplished with fewer environmental impacts.
Thanks to the city’s leadership and staff for showing us how we can provide necessary infrastructure while still protecting our natural environment.
