PT Shorts moving to third Thursday of month

PORT TOWNSEND — PT Shorts is moving to the third Thursday of the month.

Northwind Arts Center and Key City Public Theatre (KCPT) co-sponsor and co-present PT Shorts, which has been running for 20 years in Port Townsend.

Traditionally, the PT Shorts readings were held on the evening of Art Walk in downtown Port Townsend to act as an after event to the galleries and cafes that show art. In 2018, the program will be at a dedicated place and time: 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St., Port Townsend.

PT Shorts was started by Don White with Key City Public Theatre to bring the short works of published writers to the stage in theatrical readings once a month, read by actors.

The idea was to give actors some much-needed stage work and public reading is a great exercise for actors.

In 2014, Northwind teamed up with KCPT, and began hosting the reading in Northwind’s new downtown location. Northwind supports artists as a big part of its mission, and this program matched that mission to give performing artists a platform to practice their art.
