PORT TOWNSEND — A freewheeling discussion with time for questions is set for Sunday as Port Townsend artists Elissa Greisz and Maxwell Yakush give a free talk about their work.
The 3 p.m. discussion will take place at Northwind Art’s nonprofit Jeanette Best Gallery, 701 Water St. in Port Townsend, where the pair’s intricate and contrasting artwork is on view.
Their show, titled “A Closer Look,” features dozens of Greisz’s iridescent foil-and-aluminum pieces and Yakush’s sculptures made with stones from places like North Beach. Prose from Jack Kerouac’s novel “On the Road” also appears, stamped into Greisz’s artwork.
Sunday’s talk is free and open to the public. Northwind Art Executive Director Martha Worthley will ask the two artists a few questions and encourage the audience to partcipate.
“A Closer Look” is one of three exhibits at the nonprofit gallery. The “Ars Poetica” show of poetry and visual art and the “Showcase 2025” exhibition of 15 artists from around the region also are on view.
Gallery hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays. More information can be found at www.northwindart.org.
