Melancon to perform at Candlelight Concerts

PORT TOWNSEND — Tom Melancon will perform during a Candlelight Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The series, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 609 Taylor St. in Port Townsend, also will be simulcast on KPTZ FM 91.9 and stream at www. trinityumcpt.org.

The concert is free, although a donation of $15 per person is requested.

Half of the proceeds will go to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul East Jefferson County, an organization that responds to the emergency needs of people in the community by offering financial assistance and referrals as necessary.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Masks are encouraged for in-person attendees.

Melancon, a Seattle-based singer and songwriter, grew up in northern Nevada and played bass guitar with bands in Reno.

Melancon moved to the Pacific Northwest more than 20 years ago and although he has continued to play bass guitar with local bands, he also has shifted his focus toward songwriting and solo performances.

In 2019, Melancon formed his band American Flats, and they have been playing Americana at local venues and festivals such as the Showbox, Bite of Seattle and the Royal Room.

American Flats released its first EP, “Nevada,” during a show at Seattle’s Royal Room in February.

Melancon’s solo performances include hard-hitting Americana and folk-rock songs that he has written.
