Kate Voss & The Big Boss Band to perform at Naval Elks Lodge

PORT ANGELES — The Juan de Fuca Foundation will present A Vintage Christmas with Kate Voss & The Big Boss Band on Saturday.

The jazz quartet concert at the Naval Elks Lodge ballroom, 131 E. First St., also will feature a special visit from Santa, raffle prizes and signature cocktails.

Advance tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for youth 14 and younger at jffa.org, Port Book and News in Port Angeles and Dungeness Kids Co. in Sequim.

The cost of tickets will increase by $5 at the door.

The award-winning band is fronted by Earshot Magazine’s Vocalist of the Year Voss and backed by top Seattle jazz musicians on guitar, bass, drums and melodica, organizers said.

“The nostalgia kicks into high gear with classics like ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ and ‘Winter Wonderland,’ and smiles abound with hidden gems like ‘Mr. Santa’ done to the tune of ‘Mr. Sandman,’ ” according to a press release.

Voss and her husband, Jason Goessl, have been playing jazz standards as a duo since 2014, revamping swing jazz and ragtime songs.

They have earned such awards as Best Jazz Act of 2017 from Seattle Weekly.
