Artwork sought for World AIDS Day

PORT ANGELES — Applications are now open for artwork for a World AIDS Day exhibit at the Port Angeles Library.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Sept. 1. The exhibit will be from Dec. 1 through Feb. 29, 2024. The opening reception will be on Dec. 1, which is recognized as World AIDS Day.

Artists in the Pacific Northwest who are living with or are affected by HIV/AIDS are encouraged to enter work in any medium — visual, literary, performing arts — for the exhibit at the library at 2210 S. Peabody St.

Types of art from all mediums will be considered, including live performance, video, music, as well as 2D and 3D artwork.

To apply, go to https://www.nols.org/aids-day-art.

Required information includes:

• Name and contact information (artists can choose whether to be named or remain anonymous in the description of their piece displayed at the library).

• A description of the work(s) you’d like to exhibit including the title, date created and materials/medium.

• Dimensions and/or display or performance space needs.

• Images of the work — in an attachment size less than 10MB, or a link to digital media or performing art.

• Regional status: List the city you are currently living in or consider home.

Submissions will be reviewed by a committee of library staff and community members. Those whose work is selected will be contacted with information in regard to display, drop-off and other coordinating details.

The drop-off window for art will be from Nov. 13-18 at the library. At the time of drop-off, artwork should be ready to hang or display.

Artwork must be picked up March 1-9.
