Artist’s reception set Saturday at Aurora Loop Gallery

PORT TOWNSEND — There will be a meet and greet for “Alight: solo show by Deborah Maris Lader” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The reception will be at the Aurora Loop Gallery, 971 Aurora Loop in Port Townsend.

Lader’s etchings, lithographs and screenprints will be on display from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays to Sundays through May 26.

Lader, a Chicago-based printmaker, founded the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative and has been its director since 1989.

The exhibit features work in two groups, medium- and large-scale multicolored etchings and litho prints, and small prints featuring a variety of birds, both perched and in flight.

The imagery in Lader’s works are from both dreams and life, and these experiences are woven together with odd bits of memories mixed and strewn throughout.

Lader exhibits her prints, drawings, photography and mixed media artwork internationally; her work appears in many permanent collections, including the Chicago History Museum, the New York Public Library and the city of Palo Alto.

She is also a member of the touring alt-folk band, Sons of the Never Wrong.
