Artist to demonstrate gourd preparation

SEQUIM — Jane Smith will demonstrate the use of pine needles as decorations for her gourd art at 1 p.m. Friday.

The free demonstration will be at the Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., Sequim.

Smith will demonstrate some of the techniques used in the process of gourd decoration, beginning with preparation and moving to pine needle coiling.

Attendees will receive a small prepared gourd and instructions to take home.
