SEQUIM — Joshua W. Fox has been named a partner in the Platt Irwin Law Firm.
Fox, originally from Nebraska, received his Bachelor of Science in psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2005. He attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan, where he graduated in 2008 with a focus in litigation.
After practicing with an insurance defense firm in Omaha, Neb., for three years, Fox and his wife, Morgan Fox, moved to Port Angeles in 2011, when he was hired as an associate attorney at Platt Irwin.
Fox specializes in civil litigation and trial practice, personal-injury litigation, family law and dissolution of marriage, and estate planning and administration.
He sees clients in the firm’s Sequim office at 495 W. Alder St.
Platt Irwin also has offices in Port Angeles and Port Townsend.

Homebuyers class
SEQUIM — A free class for first-time homebuyers will be held at Paradise Restaurant, 703 N. Sequim Ave., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this coming Saturday, April 12.
This event is sponsored by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission.
Keynote speakers will be Michele Mallari-Adkisson of Eagle Home Mortgage and Heidi Hansen of Windermere Realty.
Lunch and refreshments will be served.

New Coho lease
VICTORIA — The British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has signed a three-year lease extension with Black Ball Ferry Line, operator of the MV Coho ferry between Port Angeles and Victoria, for its dock and terminal in Victoria’s Inner Harbour.
Extending the lease to 2016 will allow the provincial ministry and Black Ball time to develop a long-term plan for the wharves, officials said.
The ministry said it will conduct an engineering assessment of the wharves used by the Coho — and the Victoria Clipper passenger ferry boats to Seattle — to determine their condition, remaining lifespan and what repairs are needed.
This information will be used to develop a plan for these assets, based on the scope and cost of repairs.
The ministry took responsibility of the Belleville Street ferry terminal properties last Tuesday as part of the dissolution of the Provincial Capital Commission in a cost-cutting move.
Homebuying class
PORT ANGELES — The Washington State Housing Financing Commission will sponsor a free, five-hour down payment assistance and homebuying seminar at Clallam Transit, 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd.
The seminar is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
Targeted at moderate- to low-income buyers, the class will allow attendees to acquire a certificate, making them eligible through the commission for down payment assistance.
