PORT TOWNSEND — The Friends of the Port Townsend Library are accepting book and media donations at the library, 1220 Lawrence St.

A designated donation box has been placed near the library entrance by the bike rack in the front parking lot off Harrison Street.

Book and media donations fund many of the Port Townsend Library programs offered each year.

These programs include the annual Community Read, Book Lover’s Cafe, author events, summer reading for kids and adults, programs for babies and children, and more.

Because the books that are collected are sold to provide funds for library programs, do not include musty, smoky or moldy books or media; college and high school textbooks; damaged books or media; magazines or catalogs; condensed books or encyclopedias; or books with missing covers.

To drop off boxes of books, email ptbook

donations@gmail.com beforehand.

The next used-book and media sale is Saturday, Oct. 11.
