TUKWILA — Peninsula College will find itself in an awkward spot during Sunday’s Northwest Athletic women’s soccer championship game.

The Pirates were denied their fifth straight title game appearance Saturday when Highline knocked them off 2-1 at Starfire Sports Complex.

The Thunderbirds scored in the 54th and 57th minutes to open up a 2-0 lead in the match.

Myu Ban scored for the Pirates in the 83rd minute. Peninsula remained on attack but was unable to net the equalizer.

The Peninsula men’s semifinal match against Chemeteka begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, or after the Tacoma-Spokane match ends.
