NEWS BRIEFS: Peninsula College names new director of human resources . . . and other items

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College has named a new director of human resources .

Kraig Michels will begin work Feb. 1. He replaces Bonnie Cauffman, who retired Jan. 7 after 37 years at the college.

Michels was previously employed as the coordinator of human resources and benefits for the North Slope Borough School District in Barrow, Alaska.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration management and a master’s degree in business administration accounting and human resources from the University of Montana.

Past employment includes a role as a vice president and financial consultant for DA Davidson and as vice president for sales and operations at Piper Jaffray.

Senior meals offered in PA this week

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Senior Nutrition Site dinners will be served at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

A suggested donation is $5 for those who are 60 or older.

People younger than 60 can attend for $8.

Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance to 360-457-8921.

Menus are subject to change.

■ Tuesday: Green salad, beef stew, corn, biscuit and ambrosia.

■ Wednesday: Apple slaw, barbecue chicken, baked beans, potato salad, biscuit and peaches and cream.

■ Thursday: Closed.

■ Friday: Broccoli salad, baked fish, confetti rice, lima beans and lemon bars with strawberries.

Habitat meeting

PORT ANGELES — Habitat for Humanity Clallam County will have its annual meeting at First Presbyterian Church, 139 W. Eighth St., at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28.

This meeting is open to the public.

New homeowners will present testimonials, the new Advisory Council will be introduced and a presentation of plans for 2016 are on the agenda.
