Port Angeles school board appoints new director

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School District Board of Directors unanimously appointed Sandra Long as a director at a special meeting held Thursday at the Central Services Building.

The directors interviewed five candidates — Gary Gleason, Sandra Long, Jennifer Burkhardt, James Preston and T. Scott Brandon.

Long will serve until December 2017 in place of director-elect Rick Marti, who resigned after his election but before being sworn in.

She will be sworn in as director at a board meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 14, at the Central Services Building, 216 East Fourth Street. School Board meetings are open to the public.
