FERNDALE — The Port Angeles/Sequim/Crescent gymnastics squad competed in the Sehome Invitational held at the Gymstar Sports Center in Ferndale on Saturday, coming in second place out of five teams.

Local gymnasts — five from Port Angeles, two from Sequim and one from Crescent — competed against teams from Sehome, Bellingham, Ballard and Monroe.

PA/Sequim/Crescent finished the meet with 152.8 points, coming in a close second to Ballard’s 156.25.

Sequim’s Alex Schmadeke had the highest marks for the combined team. She finished fifth in the all-around with 34.45 points. She was third in the floor (9.3), fourth in the beam (9.1), fifth in the vault (8.45) and fifth in the bars (7.6).

Freshman Jessamyn Schindler of Port Angeles was fifth in the beam (9.0) and seventh in the floor exercise (8.8), finishing seventh overall at 32.55.

Susannah Sharp of Sequim was fifth in the floor (9.0), sixth in the vault (8.4) and eighth in the bars (7.1). She was ninth in the all-around with 31.5 total points.

The team’s next meet will be held at Klahhane Gymnastics Center in Port Angeles at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
