QUILCENE — A driver from Tonopah, Nev., fell asleep on U.S. Highway 101 at 8:21 p.m. Friday, ended up in a ditch and was taken to a hospital, the State Patrol reported.

Ashlee Lawson, 24, was taken to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale. No information on her condition was available Friday or Saturday.

A 2-year-old passenger was not hurt, the State Patrol said.

Troopers said that Lawson was northbound on Highway 101 when she fell asleep. Her car collided with a driveway approach and came to rest in a northbound ditch.

She was cited for negligent driving.

Both Lawson and the child were wearing seatbelts.

The car, a 2003 Chevy, was destroyed, troopers said.
