Native plant webinars set

PORT ANGELES — The Clallam Conservation District will host two free webinars this week on the use of native plants.

Eric Lee-Mader will present “Planting Native Species for Pollinators” from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lee-Mader, the manager of Northwest Meadowscapes on Whidbey Island, will discuss how to plan, install and maintain wildflower meadows and native hedgerows to improve pollinator habitat.

On Jan. 6 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Joe Holtrop will present “Planting and Maintaining a Native Landscape.”

Holtrop, the conservation district’s executive director, will discuss basic site analysis, an overview of common native trees and shrubs, plant selection, bare-root plant care, planting and maintenance.

Participants must register for the lectures at www.clallamcd.org.
