Bridge construction to cause traffic delays this week

INDIAN ISLAND — Bridge construction on state Highway 116 (Flagler Road) at Killisut Harbor may cause traffic delays Feb. 10-13.

Drivers can expect four 20-minute road closures each day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Cranes will move a 110-foot-long bridge girder from its delivery vehicle to the new bridge during each closure.

According to a press release, the new bridge will restore historic tidal channels and fish runs between Oak Bay and Killisut Harbor.
