Throw me a line: Students team up in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Ayden Ratliff, 12, tosses a line to instructor Sojia Frojen on Thursday so they can undock the longboat the students of the OCEAN program will be working on at the Northwest Maritime Center in Port Townsend.

Ratliff and Frojen are members of the program’s Bravo Team, which is comprised of middle and high school students who are learning about longboat operating and researching environmental projects that will culminate in an overnight trip at the end of the class.
