Port Angeles: Hannan’s lead in Port commissioner race almost insurmountable

Published 12:01 am Sunday, November 11, 2001

Bill Hannan has beaten Corby Somerville for Port of Port Angeles commissioner.

Hannan’s lead widened from 305 ballots to 535 in vote counting Friday afternoon.

Only about 300 late-arriving mail ballots remain to be counted.

The contest between Somerville and Hannan for the six-year seat representing the Sequim area on the three-person Port commission was the most expensive — and most controversial — local race on this year’s ballot.

Hannan will succeed Jack Waud of Sequim, who did not seek re-election.
