PORT ANGELES — Consultant Hank Jernigan will ask the full Port of Port Angeles board of commissioners today for a spot on their April 8 meeting agenda to further discuss his plans to help turn the Peninsula into a filmmaking destination.

The subject first came up at an informal Friday meeting featuring Port Commisioner Leonard Beil and community members.

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the public meeting room at the Port’s headquarters at 338 W. First St.

Earlier in the day, they will hold a work session on the possibility of developing a public golf course near William R. Fairchild International Airport.

The work session, open to the public, will begin with a tour of the south industrial airport properties beginning shortly after 1 p.m. Following that is a discussion with a golf course consultant at about 2:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Port’s headquarters building.

Jernigan owns Sol Duc Productions in Port Angeles and has worked as a Hollywood studio manager.

He proposes the Port rent its vacant 1050 Building at the airport to movie studios as a sound stage.
