Blyn: Casino success will not translate into per capita payments

BLYN — The Jamestown S’Klallam tribe’s 7 Cedars Casino isn’t generating the kind of income leading to per capita payments to tribal members.

And even if it were, it’s unlikely current tribal leadership would favor such a plan.

Tribal Chairman W. Ron Allen said profits from the tribe’s businesses, including the casino in Blyn, are earmarked for tribal community programs such as health-care and education.

“We are focusing our energy on community development projects,” Allen said during a telephone interview Thursday.

Three tribes, with large casinos in the Interstate 5 corridor are making per capita payments to their members.
