Port Angeles gets sneak peek at new Carnegie Library museum this weekend

PORT ANGELES — The public gets its first peek inside the newly renovated Carnegie Library this weekend — and a look at the history of Clallam County as well.

The new Museum at the Carnegie will be feted in a $50 gala and preview tour tonight, then opened to the public for free tours Saturday afternoon following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Belfair, will be special guest as the city and Clallam County Historical Society mark the completion of a two-year, $1.2 million project.

Saturday’s ribbon cutting starts at noon, and tours of the museum will follow until 2:30 p.m.

The museum will open permanently to the public in mid-November.

The 85-year-old Carnegie Library on Lincoln Street near downtown Port Angeles was formerly the city’s public library.
