PORT TOWNSEND — A 25-year-old motorcyclist sustained head injuries when he hit a guardrail on state Highway 20 Sunday morning.

Injured was Scott Joseph Pulido of Port Townsend. The Washington State Patrol said Pulido — an honor student at Peninsula College in the fall quarter of 2005 — was wearing a helmet.

Troopers said he was traveling east at about 100 miles per hour on Highway 20 just past milepost 2 when he crossed the centerline and hit the rail. They said alcohol was involved in the crash.

His 1998 Honda CBR 600 was a total loss.

Pulido remained in Harborview Medical Center, where he had been airlifted.
