PORT HADLOCK — An auto yard on Old Hadlock Road has been named a No. 1 hazardous site by the state Department of Ecology.

Ecology on Friday added two sites each in Clallam and Jefferson counties to its list of hazardous locations slated for cleanup.

They include a No. 1 ranking for property owned by Michael Anderson on Old Hadlock Road south of Port Hadlock.

The others are:

  • Port Ludlow Golf Course, Port Ludlow, with a ranking of 3.

  • 301 Business Park Loop, Carlsborg, 5.

  • The former Alpine Realty/Jiffy Cleaners site, now the Safeway Fuel Station on Lincoln Street in Port Angeles, 5.

Sites are ranked from 1 to 5 — most to least hazardous — according to the risks Ecology says they pose to people and the environment.
