CLALLAM ELECTION RESULTS: Close races in initial returns

Published 12:01 am Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Election results tallied tonight (Tuesday) showed “too close to call” tallies in most Port Angeles City Council races.

Winners in the City Council races may be determined when the second round of ballots are counted on Friday.

There will be no further ballot counts until then. Thousands of mail-in ballots remain to be counted.

In Sequim, longtime incumbent Walt Schubert was trailing challenger Ted Miller by a large margin and appeared headed to defeat. Incumbent Don Hall was leading in the other contested City Council election.

If tonight’s results hold in Forks, the next mayor will be City Councilman Bryon Monohon.

Ballots that arrived at the Auditor’s Office today and late yesterday will be counted Friday. As of 8 p.m. today, a total of 36.31 percent of registered voters cast ballots.
