Highway subcontractor announces end to highway delays

LAKE CRESCENT — Officials from Strider Construction, a subcontractor performing the rock wall scaling, bolting and doweling along U.S. Highway 101 at Lake Crescent, announced Friday that four-hour delays are over for the season.

The company said it is now in a clean-up phase and expects to finish its work this week.

Strider Construction crews are currently wrapping up their first season at Lake Crescent with clean-up this week.

Several cautionary signs at the lake were replaced Friday.

There are new construction signs at the rock wall at milepost 229 notifying drivers of narrow lanes as well as a new cautionary speed limit, they said.

Both lanes of travel will be open for the winter, according to the company. There will be no traffic signals for the rest of the season.

Half-hour delays began today at 7:10 a.m., Monday through Friday, and will end by Friday, Dec. 22.

Officials urge commuters to be through the rock wall area on Highway 101 by 7 a.m. to avoid delays.

Work-related delays have been ending for the day around 5 p.m.
