PORT ANGELES — A single-wide mobile home being lowered on its foundation Monday night fell off a jack and trapped the man who was doing the lowering.

Clallam County Fire District No. 2 firefighters said the man was lowering the 10-foot by 40-foot coach when it fell shortly after 9 p.m.

Dennis Toepke, 64, of Port Angeles suffered a crushed pelvis and elbow and a broken shoulder, said Doug Hyatt, a contractor working on the mobile home on Tuesday.

Clallam County Fire District No. 2 took Toepke to Olympic Medical Center where he was stabilized and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A Harborview nursing supervisor said Toepke was no longer in the intensive care unit and was in satisfactory condition.
