Forecast update: Snow in our future Friday, this weekend

The National Weather Service has just issued a forecast that shows snow and rain/snow mix falling in inhabited areas of the North Olympic Peninsula on Friday and this weekend.

Here is the forecast for Clallam and Jefferson counties:

Friday: Rain showers likely before 10am, then rain and snow showers likely. Snow level 1500 feet lowering to 400 feet. Cloudy, with a high near 44. Northwest wind between 8 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 36. North wind between 5 and 10 mph. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Saturday: A chance of snow showers before 10am, then a chance of rain showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37.

Sunday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Monday: A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 33.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22.
