PREP BASEBALL: East Jefferson beats Quilcene 5-4 on 7th-inning triple

QUILCENE — The East Jefferson baseball team got a go-ahead RBI triple from Carson Boltinghouse in the top of the seventh inning that turned out to be the winning run in a 5-4 victory over Quilcene.

Mason Heinzinger pitched a complete game for the Rivals, allowing nine hits and striking out 12. He shut down the Rangers in order in the bottom of the seventh to seal the victory.

East Jefferson’s Miles Gali was 3-for-3 with two stolen bases. He hit a double in the seventh inning and came in to score the winning run on Boltinghouse’s triple.

Rylan Dunn was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base, while Elijah Thornton was 2-for-2. Dane Moore hit a double and scored two runs.

For Quilcene, Eli Allen was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases, while Oliver Hopkins was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Logan Carstensen was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, while Jayden Minish was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three stolen bases.

Allen pitched three innings, allowing three hits and an earned run. He struck out six. Hopkins pitched four innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs. He struck out two.

East Jefferson also beat Coupeville 7-5 on Monday as Heinzinger hit a solo home run and Thomas Aumock hit a two-run double. Heinzinger finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Thornton was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Dawson Reid struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the victory. He pitched four innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs. He struck out nine. Dunn struck out four in two innings pitched.

East Jefferson (3-5) next hosts Klahowya (2-2) in Chimacum at 4 p.m. today. Quilcene (2-3) next plays at Oakville today.

Girls Softball Quilcene 10, Muckleshoot 8

QUILCENE — Quilcene softball player Anna Sarnes Jr. had five hits as the Rangers pounded out 24 hits total in a 10-8 victory over Muckleshoot.

Charlotte Fay pitched the complete-game victory, scattering 12 hits, allowing seven earned runs and striking out eight.

Included in Quilcene’s 24 hits were nine doubles. Sarnes went 5-for-6 with two doubles and two runs scored.

Kindle Iverson was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Lila Anderson was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Tana Canterbury was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Cora Canterbury was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Fay was 3-for-4 with a double. Bryelle and Brianne Evans combined to go 5-for-10 with a double and two RBIs.

Quilcene (3-1) next plays at Redeemer Christian on April 13.
