ROCHESTER — Forks struggled on the offensive end of its Class 2B Southwest District IV boys basketball quarterfinal with Napavine, hanging around for one half before the No. 6-seeded Tigers seized full control after halftime in a 55-32 loss Wednesday.

After getting out to a 9-9 starter after the first quarter, Forks struggled, scoring just five points in the second and three in the third as the Tigers took an an insurmountable 43-17 lead into the fourth quarter.

Across those two frames, Napavine (18-4) held the No. 3-seeded Spartans to 3-of-22 shooting(13.6-percent) from the field and forced 15 Forks’ turnovers.

On the offensive end, Napavine scored the first 17 points of the second half to pull away.

The final tallies weren’t much different. By the end of the night, Napavine had forced 26 turnovers and held Forks to a shooting mark of just 23.4-percent from the field.

Conner Clark led the Spartans with 11 points, while Ty Rowley added 10.

Forks (12-8) plays Raymond-South Bend (9-12) in a loser-out district contest tonight at 6 p.m. at Rochester High School.

The Spartans beat the Ravens 67-55 and 64-53 in Pacific League play earlier this season.
