Reach and Row event to raise money for Volunteer Hospice

SEQUIM — Pre-registration is open for the Sequim Bay Yacht Club’s Reach and Row for Hospice through Sept. 13.

The annual boat-racing series benefits Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County’s respite care fund.

The 5,000-meter race, set for Sept. 14 is open to individuals and teams in shells, rowboats, canoes, kayaks, rowboats, paddleboards and inflatables — basically any watercraft that can be rowed or paddled.

Participants can pre-register at www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=342520 for $30 per racer, $25 for club members.

Registration also will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. on race day in the south parking lot at John Wayne Marina, 2577 W. Sequim Bay Road, for $60 per racer or $50 for club members.

Race-day payments are by cash or check only. Checks should be written to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.

The yacht club also will conduct a sailing regatta on Sept. 21. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. in the marina building.

Single- and multi-hulled boats of any size may enter. The registration fee is $50 per vessel.

Established in 1991, Reach and Row has raised more than $511,000 for Volunteer Hospice.
