SEQUIM — One person was found dead following a fire at a residence off East Sequim Bay Road early Wednesday, according to Clallam County Fire District 3 officials.

Peninsula Communications (PenCom) was alerted to the structure fire on the 300 block of Blue Grouse Run at about 6:30 a.m. Interim chief Dan Orr with Fire District 3 said the structure was fully involved while firefighters were on scene.

A male was found deceased in the structure, according to the fire district and Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

“Detectives, in cooperation with District 3 fire investigators [were] able to determine the fire was accidental and there is no suspicion of foul play,” sheriff’s office representatives said in a press release.

Several people were inside the house at the time of the fire, Orr said.

“[The building is] way off Sequim Bay Road; it took quite a while for us to get there,” he said.

Orr noted that district personnel responded to a call for CPR — not the fire’s victim — at the same property three days ago.

“There are a number of people living there on this piece of property,” he said.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of identifying the victim, Orr said.
