Ivy Barrett is part of an extremely deep Sequim track and field team that is sending more than a dozen athletes to the state 2A championships this weekend.

This past weekend, Barrett won the District 2/3 championship in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.50 seconds, a personal record and a sophomore school record for Sequim. That is also the second-fastest 400 time established among 2A girls this year.

Barrett is also a big part of Sequim’s 4×200 and 4×400 teams. She helped the 4×200 relay team win the Olympic League championship and finish second at district. She anchored the 4×400 relay squad (Kaitlyn Bloomenrader, Jolene Vaara, Katie Morris, Barrett) that won both the league and district championships, coming in first at district with a season-best time of 4:10.61.

The Wolves’ 4×200 team also set a school record of 1:47.92.
