Port Townsend High School students third in trial competition

OLYMPIA — Port Townsend High School’s mock trial team for earned third place in a state-wide competition in the Thurston County Superior Court.

The team had to work on a complex case involving the intersection of property access and liability for a ski resort.

The program, sponsored by the YMCA and Washington State Courts, helps students to develop public speaking skills, critical thinking and teamwork.

In addition to the team performance, team members Maya Dow and Ava Butterfield were part of a seven-way tie for best attorney.
