EYE ON JEFFERSON: County grant to PDA under consideration

Published 1:30 am Sunday, October 24, 2021

The Jefferson County commissioners will consider a grant rather than a loan to the Fort Worden Public Development Authority at a meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.

The PDA had asked for the county’s assistance in guaranteeing $378,000 in loans to refinance debt and resume full operations. Staff is recommending that a grant be provided instead of a loan, because of difficulties in providing a loan to the PDA. The issue will be discussed during the commissioners’ briefing session at 1:30 p.m.

At 10:30 a.m., commissioners will open bids for the state Highway 116 and Cedar Avenue Pedestrian-Bike Improvement Project. The engineer’s estimate for the state-funded project is $526,130.
