COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Port Angeles’ Myra Walker signs with Peninsula College

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles senior Myra Walker officially signed a letter of intent to play college basketball for head coach Alison Crumb and the Peninsula College Pirates women’s basketball team.
“I’m so excited to bring Myra into our Pirate family,” Crumb said. “She brings such good toughness and character, and we need her physicality next year in the paint. Myra is another player that we have watched grow and develop over the years, and we can’t wait to see how she does at the next level. This is such a fun group of players, and Myra is a big part of that.”
Walker rebounds well, defends against taller players in the post and is an all-around athlete — she earned a fourth-place finish in the shot put at the Class 2A Track and Field State Championships as a sophomore in 2019.
Walker is the third member of the Port Angeles High School Class of 2021 to sign to play with Peninsula, joining teammates Madison Cooke and Millie Long.
Port Townsend’s Gina Brown also has signed to play for the Pirates, and the group will join Sequim’s Hope Glasser, a freshman on the Peninsula squad this season, next fall.
Crumb said she will be adding additional area players to the team next season.
