PORT ANGELES — Monday Musicale has announced the winners of its annual music scholarships.

Port Angeles High School students Madelynne Jones and Evan Cobb both received $3,000 scholarships.

Jones played cello and sang for her audition.

She will attend Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma to study vocal performance.

Cobb played both the cello and the piano for his audition.

He plans to major in music education at Western Washington University in Bellingham.

Sequim High School student Alex Shingleton received an honorable mention for his trumpet playing.

The judges for the auditions were Vicki Helwick, music teacher at Jefferson Elementary School and choir teacher at Stevens Middle School; Jonathan Pasternack, director/conductor for the Port Angeles Symphony; and Phil Morris-Ellis, conductor for the Sequim Community Orchestra.

Monday Musicale has awarded scholarships since 1968 to Clallam County students who are studying in the field of music.
