NEWS BRIEFS: Artist to demonstrate work at Sequim presentation Thursday … and other items

SEQUIM — The Olympic Peninsula Art Association will present a program and demonstration of making wirework chains by artist Susan Cleaves on Thursday.

Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. at the parish hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave. Cleaves will present the program after a short business meeting at 10 a.m.

Admission for nonmembers is $5.

Cleaves retired from a design and manufacturing company after 22 years and now works in lampwork glass bead-making, rug-making, silversmithing and wirework. She is a resident artist at The Landing Artist’s Studio in Port Angeles.

Commissioners to meet

The Clallam County commissioners will continue a discussion on the Public Works Department’s 2018 budget during a meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will be in the commissioners’ meeting room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

SEQUIM — Susan Smith has been hired at Pondicherri as the business’ new sales-administration associate.
