SEQUIM — Sequim’s Elise Beuke, already coming off a spectacular rowing season, has more work cut out for her at the upcoming Under 23 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from July 19-23.

Beuke, a member of the University of Washington’s NCAA national championship crew team and an All-American rower will row for the women’s U23 eight boat. Her Huskies teammate Jessica Thoennes also will be a member of that boat, as well as rowers from Stanford, Cal, Wisconsin, Princeton and Texas.

Beuke already has collected a number of rowing accolades. She was named a first-team All American by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association a few weeks after her eight-woman boat was one of three UW boats to combine for a national championship. All three UW boats won their national championship races, an unprecedented feat for any university.

Beuke graduated from Sequim High School in 2015. That summer she won a silver medal at the U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships and finished seventh in the World Junior Rowing Championships in Brazil.
